Re: [Utah-astronomy] At Gravel Pit Friday Night
Rob, Where in Maui do you live? I've got a map of Maui from AAA. What are your favorite beaches? Have you seen the lava caves? Debbie
Hi Deb I live in Pukalani up the road to Mt. Haleakala. The favorite beach is baby Beach in Spreklesville or down Wailea way or any place that suites you. Yes I have seen the lava caves, why?? Do you want to see some?? http://www.showcaves.com/english/usa/caves/Kazumura.html http://www.latech.edu/tech/education/cicciarella/crg/kazumuracaveproject.htm... http://volcano.und.nodak.edu/vwdocs/volc_images/north_america/hawaii/kazu.ht... Here are a few sites that have some photos of a great system on the BIg Island Aloha Rob
Rob What this? Pukalani? Doesn't that mean "hole in heaven"? You ought to be able to see stars real well through that (I had to keep it on topic). When I was a 10, I cut my head open on the reef while body surfing and when the other kids saw it they said "Puka head, Puka head". I am not libel to forget that word. I just had a flash back; sorry. Aloha Jim Puka head, yup I can see that happening. Local kids are just that way ......... Pukalani "Hole in the Sky" is a pretty good spot even w/ houses close by and street lights. My backyard pier has the streetlights blocked by houses and a big Christmas berry bush, it was the only place that was in shadow. Problem w/ that home location is anything rising in the east must be at least 45 up before it's in view. But it's close and easy to get to ;^) aloha Rob
