Roger Sinnott's article "A Spreadsheet for Polar Alignment"
Kurt, Do you have a copy of Roger Sinnott's article in the Sept '91 S&T issue "A Spreadsheet for Polar Alignment" pp 299-301? Does it work through the math a little bit? I want to calculate the RA and DEC drift of a star as a function of alt and az polar misalignment, I have the spreadsheet you put together that goes the other way. Cheers David
Actually, it appears as if I got the authors name wrong, it was apparently by Baldwin. Anyone have a copy? Cheers David
It looks like Kurt supplied what was needed in this case but I thought I'd mention that I've complete collections of S&T (even some The Sky & a few The Telescope), Astronomy, Star & Sky, Nova and Planetary Report. Also have Scope Jockies Journal from 1975 to 1979. I'm happy to share. If anyone needs to see a particular issue just let me know which one and I'll bring it to a SLAS function. Take a gander at my blog re. the supernova announced recently, which a press release says was "for the record books" and was as powerful as 9,000 ordinary supernovas. Tom Matheson, astronomer who grew up in the Utah governor's mansion, thinks it probably was like other supernovas. http://deseretnews.com/blogs/1,5322,10000034,00.html?bD=20090222 -- Joe
