A friend of mine who had ordered a pair of the 15x70 Binoculars from Sportsmans Guide recieved an email today telling him that the manufacturer will not be sending any more. His order has been cancelled and SG dosen't think they'll be getting them again; ever. That's too bad; while I haven't used mine much in our Bay-Area weather as of late, I'm glad I was able to get them. Joe Borgione
Good info Joe, thanks. I'll stop recommending them to others. Glad we got ours while they could be had! Chuck --- Joe Borgione <jborgion@xmission.com> wrote:

With the new list, there is an option where I can set the reply-to address to go directly to the list, OR back to the person who sent the email, and not the entire list. So, when you hit 'reply', it'll either go to the list, or only back to the person who sent the message. If it's set only to go back to the poster, you could hit 'reply to all' on your email software, and then the reply would be sent back to the person who sent it, and to the list. I was wondering who would prefer which option... 1) Set the Reply-To address so it ONLY goes back to the original poster (not to the list). 2) Set the Reply-To address to go to the entire list. Lemme know, I'll keep a tally of the votes. You can reply directly to me or to the list. Thanks! -- http://www.xmission.com/~lucyblue http://www.ilsikhaucil.net http://www.utahdogs.com ICQ# 10306498 AIM# OlivLucyBlue

My preference is to reply to the list. That keeps the forum a communications tool for all those on the list. If someone wants to reply to the sender, he can do that manually off list. Brent --- Cynthia Blue <lucyblue@xmission.com> wrote:

Hi Brent, Any luck with contacting the folks at Cedar Valley? BTW, the current issue of Parachutist lists a 1959 Cessna 182 for sale. $50,000+! I can only imagine what a newer one like yours would sell for... Cheers! Patrick :-)
New ones are in the $250,000+ range, well equiped, as I recall. Cessna got hit with a really nasty liability ruling late last summer, so they'll probably go up! dave --- Patrick Wiggins <pwiggins@co.slc.ut.us> wrote:

I feel that manufacturers should be responsible for the products that they produce and the general public needs to have the insurance that they are protected by the law against faulty products, but product liability suits have really hurt all of us in many ways. It is a shame that we can miss uses a product or do something really stupid and then sue the manufacturer for our own mistake. I shutter when news footage shows small airplanes that have been destroyed by tornadoes or floods knowing that most often these airplanes will never be replaced by anything affordable to the average person. The only way most of us can have an airplane is to build one ourselves. .nothing to do with astronomy but I had to say it. :-) ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Moulton" <dmoulton@rocketmail.com> To: <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2002 8:24 AM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Jump pilot?

Larry, it's even worse for me. The only airplanes I'm interested in owning were made prior to 1919! When I was a kid, I remember "futurists" saying one day we'd live in a Jetson-type world with flying cars...just as well this didn't happen...can you imagine the congestion, the ACCIDENTS? Back to astronomy. Chuck __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Mail! http://promo.yahoo.com/videomail/
I apologize to the list for this thread. I did not see that I was posting to the list until after I punched the "send" button. I meant to reply to Patrick only, but was distracted. Larry, the whole aviation community feels similarly. But I am not telling you anything you don't already know. Even insurance has gone through the roof, especially since Sept. 11. The up side is that an airplane is an investment. Mine has appreciated nicely sinc I purchased it 7 years ago. Brent --- Larry Frisk <lkfrisk@earthlink.net> wrote:

Like the subject line read: Oops. Looks like a message about flying that I intended to go only to Brent went to the list instead and has started an off topic (albeit interesting) thread. My apologies. But just to make this an on-topic message, I'll mention that a few of us got the last of the roof sheeting on the SPOC 2 slide offs today. Looks good. Next goal is to get the sheeting on the sides of the slide offs. Patrick
Patrick, since this is an asphalt-shingled roof, with very little pitch, should we be worried about ice-dams? I have that problem on an unheated section of my own roof, and it can cause serious damage. Chuck --- Patrick Wiggins <pwiggins@co.slc.ut.us> wrote:

No worries there. The roof is covered with an interlocking metal sheeting that is VERY slippery (more than once Roger and I found ourselves and our tools sliding towards the edge). I'll have images on the web later tonight but more on that in the next edition of "News". Patrick :-)

Hi Patrick, I contacted them and they indicated they had only back up slots available. They are not too interested in me flying because I leave too little useful load available for the sky divers! Thanks for the lead. Brent --- Patrick Wiggins <pwiggins@co.slc.ut.us> wrote:

Thanks!

Poll Results: =) We have so far had 6 votes for the reply to go to the list, and 1 vote for the reply to go to the person. (So I'll leave it as going to the list unless there is a major change in general perspective. Thanks!
