I flew over Elizabeth Ridge last Saturday. There was not one person camped there. Now 4 or 5 miles east is a different story. It looked like a junk yard from the air - there were so many cars, trucks, busses, campers, etc. I hear there is quite a mess up there. At least Elizabeth Ridge was spared. Hi friends, I'm getting the hang of the new telescope. Anyone want to see a moon photo from my first roll of exposures thorugh it? I think I should have been more diligent about flipping up the camera mirror, because it probably produced shaking. But still I'm pretty pleased with it. Best wishes, Joe Joe Bauman science & military reporter Deseret News bau@desnews.com (801) 237-2169

Here's one I shot with Fujicolor 200, showing Crater Maurolycus and neighbors. It's not as sharp as I would like, I think because the seeing was kind of turbulent and usually I did not flip up my SLR mirror. The mirror slap probably caused a jiggling when I took the photo, blurring the view. The reason I didn't flip it up is that it seemed to knock the focus off whenever I touched the camera. My exposure was about 1/4 second, I think. Next time I may use much slower film and do the hat trick -- wait until the vibrations damp out, then expose for a second or so. Hi all, apparently it didn't go to the list because it's too big. Not really a large file but I guess it is past some email size limitation. Anyone who would like to see it, please send me your email address and I'll forward it on. Best wishes, Joe Joe Bauman science & military reporter Deseret News bau@desnews.com (801) 237-2169
Cynthia, Does xmission support a "files" area where images and such could be uploaded for others on this list to view? -Rich --- Joe Bauman <bau@desnews.com> wrote:
