This just showed up on the Minor Planet list I'm subscribed to. Any takers? "i have three baker-nunn APT's (automatic patrol telescope), up for grabs. one has a new powder coat finish and a new mirror(recoated) but is in pieces. the other two are only slightly apart in original condition. these are perfect for setting up to track near earth objects. the university of calgary has one in service. if you or anybody you know is interested, please contact me."
Are these being sold by Tim Puckett? I was just reading David Levy's article in the July S&T about converting his old Meade Schmidt camera to CCD...think about a Baker-Nunn with a huge CCD array...you'd need one heck of a computer to process that image file. Didn't they use 10" film sheets? --- Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> wrote:

I don't think so. The email came from an Andrew Emang. Did not say where he is.

I don't know about the film size, but here's are pictures of a BN: http://calgary.rasc.ca/raobn/index.htm And some technical details: http://www.dfmengineering.com/news_calgary.html Patrick
Hi Patrick Our group 'Haleakala Amateur Astronomers' occupy the original Baker-Nunn site on Mt. Haleakala. The old B-N camera mount is still in place. Asking price?? The location of the mount is where the latest XO planet was discovered, we're thinking about locating more scopes there to do robotic follow up of XO discoveries. aloha Rob

He didn't mention price. He only described what he has and asked interested persons to contact him. If you want to contact him his name is Andrew Emang and he's at andrew@bigha.com. Patrick
Hi friends, I'm trying to upload a few astro pics for the Utah Astronomy gallery, but every time I attempt it, there's a long pause then I get a message about not being able to access a photo save URL. Can anyone help? Is the system down? Thanks, Joe
Works just fine for me, Joe. As a test, I uploaded a sexist photo from an old astronomy textbook- written by a former top staff member of Griffith Observatory. I'll pull it down again soon. --- Joe Bauman <bau@desnews.com> wrote:
