I didn't know Flicker is free. Hummm. ------------------------------ On Wed, Oct 31, 2012 11:52 AM MDT Daniel Holmes wrote:
Frankly, a flickr group is probably better. Free, easy to use, allows mobile client uploads through it's website or an app, and best of all, no system administration. Still would require an operator though if you want it curated. Posting it to flickr though would allow everything in a photo album format with minimal operator intervention.
This is going to fall apart without someone to run it--you will need someone to cull through the uploads and choose them if it's to be a 'of the day' format. Granted, not a lot of time, but it is something that has to be done on a regular schedule. And no, I'm not volunteering.

A Utah phtoto site is a good idea, just look at KSL, who already does this. It's just that I get enough cat pics and links from friends and relatives as it is. I like astronomy and asto-imaging. If it becomes an "anything in Utah goes" site, please don't link it to this list-serve.
Disclaimer: Kittens, sunsets and such are not a bad thing. I have a cat, myself, and take himself's pic very often! But there are plenty of sites catering to such already. Cat/sunset overload. At least for me.
Thanks for your time. :-)

I think that astronomy is too focused. There is already an APOD and an AAPOD (amateur astronomers, not the other AA). I would like something like UPOD. For all of Utah, including sunsets and kittens and anything else that suits your fancy.
