Jo, I had no problem opening your attachments.  Thanks so much.  I just finished Dave's suggested book by Karl Smith , at least reading the pages available .  I would have loved to read how Smith explained eclipses (that whole section was missing)  Admittedly, at first it was laughable, but then downright scary.  You can see a lot of current right-wing Christian thought in the book, including the Christian belief that is has been 6000 years since Adam and Eve and the argument that science and religion are mutually exclusive.  I am going to rot in hell for telling any of you about the society.    grins
