Re: [Utah-astronomy] Your most memorable telescope event
I've seen pink in both the Trifid and Lagoon, through Charlie Green's 29" at SPOC many years ago. Couldn't detect blue in the Trifid, though. On Mon, Feb 6, 2012 at 11:19 AM, <erikhansen@thebluezone.net> wrote:
Anyone ever see the colors in the trifid, IE pale blue and pink?
I have seen both blue and pink in the Trifid at Bryce on several occasions with telescopes from 16" and up. -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Chuck Hards Sent: Monday, February 06, 2012 12:43 PM To: Utah Astronomy Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Your most memorable telescope event I've seen pink in both the Trifid and Lagoon, through Charlie Green's 29" at SPOC many years ago. I've seen the colors through my 6 in refractor.

Yes, but you've had the keys to the drug locker, haven't you...or at least worked with people who did... ;-) I've always said that the most amazing thing in the universe that I've ever seen, I didn't see through a telescope. It had NOTHING to do with astronomy. My eyepiece experiences pale before it, memorable though they may be. It was the birth of my beautiful daughter. Incredible. Absolutely incredible. It made me feel more a part of the universe than anything else I have ever experienced. And I gained a new respect for women because of it. I maintain that males are the inferior gender. We are lucky that women put up with us. If we didn't earn a paycheck, do yardwork, empty the cat-box, and take the garbage out, we'd be kept in cages wearing loincloths, until "needed".
I have to agree with you, Chuck. But I still thank God that I'm a man. No offense intended to my wife, mother, female friends, etc., but... Whew! I'm SOOOOO glad that I caught that boat! Yeah, me too, lol! Besides, life in a loincloth in a cage ain't all bad... ;-)
No, except the chemotherapy drugs one of my friends was taking. Strangely, I never saw the colors through my 20", it seems it is more a phenom of seeing conditions than equipment.
A memorable experience was looking out over the ocean during a clouded out eclipse on seeing dolphins and whales jumping out of the water through my scope. On Mon, Feb 6, 2012 at 3:57 PM, <erikhansen@thebluezone.net> wrote:
