Re: [Utah-astronomy] ET movie
I wouldn't object to the use of SPOC for a fee as long as we control access to the facility. I wouldn't want them to run helter-skelter through our observatory.
From reading their needs I get the impression that SPOC exceeds the needs and wants for the project. Someone's more modest backyard observatory might be more suitable.
If they were to want a full scale star party with their "star" participating I would also ask for an appropriate fee and travel expenses for participants. It could actually be fun. Remember the opening scene from "IMPACT"? Started with a star party scene. Siegfried On 2009-09-02 05:42, Roger Butz wrote:
We might be well served to rethink offering up SPOC or SLAS equipment as a prop for what sounds like a low budget ET movie. We don't wear pointy aluminum foil hats to SLAS meetings and we haven't started chanting around the campfire at SPOC as yet.I'm not too enthused about the idea of having a facility I spent five years building being used as a backdrop in
an oddball movie.but hey, that's just me.If members want to offer up their personal equipment , more power to them. sounds like
Ms.Clemenza is looking for an oddball home made scope anyway.peace, good tunes and clear skies.R. Butz
I must be out of the loop on this one. What is the project and who is doing it? If it's not too wierd, I could offer my observatory at home. Hi Dale, A few days ago someone posted that someone is looking for astronomy related items to be used in a movie and later someone suggested SPOC. As far as I know the "movie person" is not on the list and has not approached SLAS about using SPOC. patrick p.s. Hmmm, South Park once did an episode about a planetarium, maybe now they're wanting to do one about an observatory... <big grin> On 03 Sep 2009, at 08:02, Dale Wilson wrote:
