Whale and the Hockey Stick galaxies from Slooh roboscope 1-14
NGC4631 and NGC4627 (Arp 281, C32) Whale or Herring Galaxy. NGC4656 and NGC 4647 Hockey Stick - both in Coma B via Slooh 1-14-2010 http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=2771 Some reprocessing attempted in 8-bit using GIMP and layer masking to separately alter the relative brightness of the galaxies and the background. Clear Skies - Kurt
It looks good Kurt! I like that target. It certainly captures the spookiness of these galaxies. Dear all, I would like to write a blog about the wonderful M-1 photo. Could I get some comments from participants, since I wasn't able to go myself? If anyone not from SLAS would like to comment, please do. SLAS Pres. Dave, any reactions? Tyler, tell me about processing and a little more about the shock waves? Rodger, how did you feel about it? JD? Patrick? Rob? Bob? I heard the volcano-top seeing was extraordinary -- can anyone verify that? Please give me a hand, friends, because I want to showcase your fine efforts. Those who were there and those who wish they had been are welcome. Thanks, Joe
Joe, I forgot to mention that while we were imaging, Bob Moore called Rob Ratkowski in Maui and asked him what the "astronomical seeing" conditions were and he said that he felt it was so good you would only expect one night every five years to be that perfect. Totally clear skies, dry air, cold and no wind which made for perfect conditions.
