Re: [Utah-astronomy] Re: Go-to scopes
I know this isn't an aviation forum but... lots of crossover between the two hobbies. Brent and Ken both have airplanes. I know Chuck is an aficionado of WW1 in particular. I fly for a living at FedEx. How many other aviators have we got out there? And Wayne, what are you building? And Chuck, who has the 2-33?
My brother-in-law's uncle owns the P51 Mustang up in Heber. Does that count? ;o) Rich --- RStmarie@aol.com wrote:

You can add me to that list, especially now that I'm getting paid to fly (jumpers) again.
And Wayne, what are you building? I'd like to know that too.

Hi gang, I told Chuck that I would repent and post to this group more often since I am a born lurker. Count me in as one who loves aviation too. I have not flown since the mid 80's but I had a Commercial/Instrument ticket. I flew a lot of hours in OH-58 helicopters with my friend Stan Berg who was the Life-Flight pilot that died a few years ago in a blizzard crash. I was infantry and he was a flying Warrent Officer. We were in the 101st Airborne Division together. Good memories. Oh and I flew a TF-102 Delta Dagger (supersonic fighter) when I was 14 years old and a member of Civil Air Patrol. My favorite shows right now are "A Plane Is Born" and "A Chopper Is Born". Both are Wings channel programs about building flying things. After the very interesting thread on "GoTo" scopes, you really might want to take a look at Celestron's New CGE 14". It made me drool, so wear a bib when you read this one. http://www.optcorp.com/cart/ProductDetail.asp?PR_ProductID=2062 Jim Gibson --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Great, I forgot my drooling bib! Now what'll I do! Let's have a discussion on this, everyone. If you had $6,100 (its cost including shipping to SLC) to do the best you could with astrophotography, what telescope would you invest in? The only drawback I see is that it's f/11. But what do you think? A URL that gets you right there is: http://www.optcorp.com/cart/ProductDetail.asp?PR_ProductID=1950 Best wishes, Joe Joe Bauman science & military reporter Deseret News bau@desnews.com (801) 237-2169

Congrats on the instrument rating! That IMHO is the most challenging rating of them all, and the one that will improve your skills the most. Just follow the rules. VMC into IMC is still the leading cause of accidents among IFR rated pilots. Brent --- Wayne Reese <wreese@hubwest.com> wrote:
