Anyone received renewal notice from Sky & Telescope?
Hi all, Has anyone on this list got a renewal notice from Sky & Telescope? Specifically I would like to know the snail-mail address they are currently asking renewals be sent to. Many thanks, patrick
Hi Patrick, I just got my S &T renewal notice. Their snail mail address is: SKY & TELESCOPE P.O. Box 421988 Palm Coast, FL 32142-7818 Wayne
Evening Wayne, Thanks for the info. As you may have heard me say in meetings or read in News I and my Sec/Treas predecessor have had all kinds of trouble with S&T (lost checks, delayed deposits, subscriptions expiring). I just heard from them today that we should be sending stuff to some place in Iowa (who will then forward to Florida and then apparently on to S&T in Massachusetts). I was afraid I'd been sending stuff to Florida by mistake. Now having heard what the renewal notices say Florida I'm a bit perplexed. Oh, but happy day, I've sent my last snail mail to them. Come next month Lucky Joe gets to take over... :) Thanks again, patrick p.s. Regarding your S&T renewal, as I say in each issue of News regarding S&T renewals: "Much quicker to go to the following URL: http://skyandtelescope.com/clubrenew or call: 800.253.0245" On 11 Dec 2009, at 19:38, WAYNE S CLARKE wrote:

Hi Patrick,
My understanding was that they forwarded mail to Florida, they did lose some mail in the process. I would have thought they would have changed that but it would probably led to having no need for the Mass. office. Protecting their jobs I suppose. When I discovered they lost mail in the transfere, I sent checks directly to Florida. Erik Hi all,

LOL! Yeah, 3 of the 5 checks I sent to the Florida office this year "disappeared" (two never were found). So now they're asking that we send checks to the Iowa office so they can process them and forward them on to Florida. They did say they are working on the problem. Fortunately now SLAS members only need to go through the club to initiate S&T subscriptions. Members can now renew directly with S&T either via their web site or a phone call. That system seems to be working very well as when done that way the renewal happens immediately and they still get the reduced club price. patrick On 12 Dec 2009, at 10:41, erikhansen@TheBlueZone.net wrote:

The joys of being Sec/Tres, perhaps S&T needs a paypal acct., they seem to be going down the tubes quickly. I guess they want to phase out the mail-in system.
