This is the best shot I could get of Saturn. Can’t see Cassini division it’s so weak. Better luck next time. Dave https://www.flickr.com/photos/78046474@N06/14128258711/

Thanks Seth. If tomorrow night is better I’m going to try to ratchet up the image size with a 2X Barlow. I’ve had iffy luck doing that. Focus is pretty hard to achieve with atmospheric turbulence and wind. Tomorrow’s weather down here is supposed to be better. However, the forecast changes almost every day. I use Scope Nights to try and anticipate good viewing conditions. Dave On May 7, 2014, at 11:39, Seth Jarvis <SJarvis@slco.org> wrote:

Dave, are you using a stacking program? I would suggest that you should take a bunch of photos with a webcam and stack them with Regi-Stax, which is free software. This makes a tremendous amount of difference. You can use it to choose only the best images for stacking, and the result is a far less-distorted view than you get from a single exposure. It's quite easy. If you have a webcam (and they're cheap), Regi-Stax almost does the rest for you. On Wednesday, May 7, 2014 5:53 PM, Dave Gary <davegary@me.com> wrote: More learning? Bummer. On May 7, 2014, at 17:22, Joe Bauman <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> wrote:

What is a good webcam to buy for astronomic imaging? I’ve looked, but it seems pretty confusing. I have an older Orion StarShoot Video camera. However, all the controls are on the camera so it’s a pain to use. One is always fiddling with buttons on the camera to adjust something. There’s no software for this camera to control the various menu functions. That’s one reason I don’t use it very much. Dave On May 7, 2014, at 17:56, Joe Bauman <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> wrote:

Very nice, Dave. I took my 8" ota off the single arm nexstar mount and borrowed a gem from Dan, so if I can get my act together, should have some pictures soon. Wish Seth sold cloud filters! 73
Thanks Larry. I just went outside and it’s a little too windy to set up. Worse than last night. Also, I don’t know how many clouds are west of me waiting to creep in once they see me try to set up. I wish these clouds would do a little more than block some imaging efforts. It spit enough rain, today, to get my truck dirty…that’s it. Good luck with your cloud problem. One more thing, cussing at them doesn’t work. They get depressed and move more slowly. Dave On May 7, 2014, at 15:24, Larry Holmes <larry@kijoda.com> wrote:
