Re: [Utah-astronomy] Last two chances to see Discovery on orbit(correction)
In 1967 I worked as a dishwasher at the Denny's on North Temple and 300 West. This restaurant was encircled by a two story motel whose entire first floor was "rented" by ladies of a suspicious background. We fought for the graveyard shift because running room service to the motel was such a kick. Yes the tips were great! In 1967 we had one piece of liver in the freezer. I think it is still the same one they have on their menu now. In all fairness though, Denny's provides us with a private room at no charge, allows us to show up when we can all get there, doesn't care if there are five of us or twenty five of us, makes no demands on us for minimums and seems genuinely appreciative of our business. Best meal ever? Not going to happen but the Superbird is the same as it was in 1967. And if they did, they'd ruin it. On 3/8/11, Kim Hyatt < kimharch @cut.net> wrote:
They have liver and onions, don't they?

It's not a matter of being "low brow". Being on the wrong side of 50, I watch my cholesterol and fat intake. D*nny's isn't very helpful in that arena. I suppose I could just have coffee or a diet soda and another wilted lettuce salad when I go there. ;o)
You're absolutely right about that, Chuck. I wish I were more disciplined re. cholesterol, but at least with my pills it's under control. -- Joe --- On Wed, 3/9/11, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

Just about any decent restaurant will do these same things for their regular customers, except possibly the "private" room. You guys love the place and I'm not going to be able to convince you otherwise, so have fun. On 3/8/11, sfisher01@comcast.net <sfisher01@comcast.net> wrote:

It's only once a month, so wouldn't it be nice to eat there just to see old friends? You don't have to love the restaurant to enjoy meeting with pals. Just a thought -- Joe --- On Wed, 3/9/11, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

And I'd love to go, Joe, but having to get up at 4:30 AM for work means no evening activities Sunday through Wednesday nights. I miss the Thursday night meetings. (I have most Fridays off) On 3/9/11, Joe Bauman <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> wrote:
