Trapezium Resolution Test - Supernova Astrograph
Hi all. I am so happy that this new astrograph is finally cranking out good images. With the OAG in place, the scope is superb. I decided to try the trapezium last night, just to see what the scope can resolve. I shot in Ha and I can clearly make out the A, B, C, D, E, F, G, one of the H's, and the I star. Not too bad! I have attached a link to the results. The main image is a stack with some wavelets applied, the 2nd image (drop down menu) is a single 30-second frame. Take a look. http://www.allred-astro.com//viewer.php?id=115 <http://www.allred-astro.com/viewer.php?id=115&cat=5&sub=97> &cat=5&sub=97 Cheers, Tyler PS - At the suggestion of others, I have decided to name the scope the "Supernova Astrograph" because the first real image taken with it contained a new supernova. I like the name.
Strangely I can see the F and G stars easier than the E. Maybe it's my monitor. I can't make out H & I. Sig Excellent job btw. On Sun, Mar 24, 2013 at 4:28 PM, Tyler Allred <tyler@allred-astro.com>wrote:

Go out to LaVerkin and get on highway 9 to Zion. There is a turnoff about a mile past the LaVerkin Overlook with a stop sign. Go towards the dam and you will see a dirt cul-de-sac there. Perfect for observing. No drunks, no ATV's, just an occasional sheriff there. Good Luck, Debbie On Mon, Mar 25, 2013 at 4:54 PM, Mark Shelton <astroshelton@yahoo.com>wrote:

Mostly cloudy, but the sun peeks through every once in a while. Wednesday night is supposed to be the best bet for clear skies this week. On Tue, Mar 26, 2013 at 1:21 PM, Mark Shelton <astroshelton@yahoo.com>wrote:
Dang it's still clouded over down here. How's the weather in Salt Lake?
Tyler, your pop would be proud! Fabulous custom scope; way to carry on the tradition (and take it up a few notches!) ________________________________ From: Tyler Allred <tyler@allred-astro.com> To: utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Sunday, March 24, 2013 4:28 PM Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Trapezium Resolution Test - Supernova Astrograph Hi all. _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Send messages to the list to Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com The Utah-Astronomy mailing list is not affiliated with any astronomy club. Rich, Thanks for the nice sentiment. I wish he was still here to share in the fun. I can't think of anyone who would be more excited about the new astrograph that him.
