The demise of manned space flight?
Hi All, Perhaps the demise of American manned space flights has been exaggerated. http://atk.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=118&item=1057 Erik
That would be nice, indeed. Of course, the top stage would be French, and this is just a proposal. Let's keep hoping this comes true! -- Joe --- On Wed, 2/9/11, erikhansen@thebluezone.net <erikhansen@thebluezone.net> wrote:

I saw an ATK spokesperson explain that the shuttle had a 1 in 100 projected failure rate, this system has 1 in 1,000. Seems a more reliable system. I do hope Utah's ATK wins the bid, they seem to have a very good record.
That USA manned flight will continue seems certain, even if ATK does not win bid. That would be nice, indeed. Of course, the top stage would be French, and

What people are really worried about is the possible lack of a manned program during our lifetimes. Even if we stopped completely now, we'll go back eventually, if we don't kill ourselves off first. Think of what humanity- heck, just the USA could do in space- if we didn't spend most of our money on defense and lawyers. "We are a young species, and full of promise." -- Carl Sagan
