Re: Swap Meet (message for Jo)
Jo, I don't seem to have your email address in my Yahoo address book. When you reply I'll rectify that. I've assembled quite a pile of stuff for the swap meet, but also a bunch of stuff that's not for sale, by request of folks who just want to examine it for ideas...I don't want to assume more space than I'm being offered, so please let me know (off-list if you like) if I should pare things down a bit or bring my own table. I can always leave the show-and-tell at home, for another occassion, if you consider that course more appropriate. Thanks again for your efforts, and the generosity of the church members and pastor. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Can somebody remind me when the swap meet is? I know it's in the Lutheran church, and I think it's next Tuesday, but I don't remember when. Thanks, Joe
Hi Chuck, (and others with similar questions.) The church has about 15 to 20, 8 foot tables that we can set up and use. I am assuming that we will not need more than that. People with just a few items can easily share tables. The things we need to pay attention too are: 1) We will do our own set-up and tear down, so make sure we leave time for that. 2) As we do with the solstice party, we will need to run a quick vacuum over the areas we impact. (I suspect we might be tracking in a bit more dirt, or creating a bit more of mess than we do will with a regular meeting. If not, then we do not need to worry about cleaning.) 3) The surface of the tables must be protected from any heavy, sharp or dirty objects, so that we do not do any damage to them. (Ignoring for now the fact that some of the older tables are already damaged :)) Pretty much the expected guidelines. We already have a good reputation at the church, because we have left it so clean after our solstice parties. This group is always willing to pitch in and get things taken care of, so I am not terribly worried. At our first club meeting, we will encourage people park in the back parking lot and come in through the back door near the kitchen. Certainly that is where we should lug our boxes through. However, there are 3 or 4 steps from that door down to the meeting room, so anyone who needs an elevator should park in the front lot and come in the same door we have used for the solstice parties. Regarding the "show and tell", I think that is fine. Meetings never seem to have enough time for that so I think this is a great opportunity to do it. The Swap meet is from 7 to 9 this coming Tuesday. I will be there about 6:30, so if you have a lot to set up, you can come a little early and get organized. Jo At 09:34 AM 1/14/2005 -0800, you wrote:
