It was a fabulous night after the clouds cleared out around midnight, maybe a little later. I very much enjoyed talking with Michael and Chrismo. I thought the sky was more beautiful than I'd ever seen it. In the morning I was dozing when a tremendous blast of wind woke me, and I saw that clouds were everywhere. Threatening lines of dark masses were marching toward me, and I packed as fast as I could because I was afraid it would pour. Not only could that soak my gear, but I could imagine the mud of Lakeside turning into a gunky, impenetrable morass. I was on my way by 8:30, but I don't think it rained. -- Joe ________________________________ From: Michael Van Opstall <opstall@math.utah.edu> To: "utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Sunday, September 4, 2011 7:18 PM Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Lakeside Sunday night OK, Joe -- As long as the weather keeps saying that the clouds are holding off until morning, I'll be out there probably sometime after ten. I might start with minor and distant planets, and even look at the moon! I know Joe sets up further back. Anyone else going to be there that might be disturbed by a late arrival (even with the moon out)?
