Just went outside with my 18X80 monocular. I looked for the Moon first. It is one of the slimmest crescents I can remember seeing. A very nice treat naked eye. Since the comet is supposed to be by the moon, I searched and founit. It looks like a miniature comet through the monocular. A broad tail, not too long and a well condensed nucleus. I went inside and got my wife to come out and have a look. She was able to find it without much trouble even though she is not experienced in astronomical observing, especially with a big hand held monocular. It is actually a half binocular and a bit unwieldy. While she looked through the monocular, I saw it naked eye. Definitely a non-stellar nucleus and perhaps a broad 1/4 degree tail. Definitely a double treat this evening from my home in Bountiful.
