Still clear and sunny in North Salt Lake. 2:03 pm. I am using a 20x70mm binocular and Baader filters, on the maple parallelogram. It's set-up in front of an open bay door in my shop, facing south. Mercury is obvious now, as it approaches the mid-point of the transit. It seems larger than the last time, but then I was using a telescope at higher power- this is my first transit with a binocular. Too little magnification to spot the "black drop". That large sunspot looks like it has aurora potential, when it nears the sun's central meridian. --- Kim <kimharch@cut.net> wrote:
HI all. Observing with a white light filter, saw the "black-drop" - a bit subtle, but certainly there. Clean separation from the sun's limb at 12:15:30.
