Actually I purposely didn't mention it. I like the long summer days. Gives me extra daylight after work during the week to pursue my non-astronomical interests. I can never stay up late on weeknights anyway, having to get up for work at 3:30 AM, and can usually sleep late on weekends when I intend to put in some eyepiece time. Not to mention the earlier dark and longer night. Observing sessions not getting started until 10:30 makes for long nights and tired mornings.

This morning was clear enough at low elevations to see Orion's belt stars just clearing the mountains in the early dawn sky. This year it's coinciding with Venus slipping in front of the sun as it catches up to earth in it's faster orbit. Soon it will join the oncoming winter constellations in the morning sky. I find myself looking forward to the cooler nights and better seeing of fall.
