Patrick, I always mount my camera parallel with the telescope, that is at right angle to the handles -- as here http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=6057 -- and it tilts when the scope swings toward various targets like the Horeshead. Of course objects in space don't know up from down, so it doesn't matter how they're oriented in the picture. I don't try to fiddle with the camera so that north is up.
