Ziggy, actually I tend to agree with you. When I first read about this, I wondered, "How much does vodka play in this "discovery"?
It could very well be that the shifting shapes are due to instability in the Venusian regolith, perhaps due to weather effects or geologic activity. That is probably the correct interpretation.
But part of me thinks that human scientific attitudes toward alien life are totally chauvenistic, based on our own chemistry. I still like to think that we are scientific infants, when it comes to stuff like this.
