Did anyone see "Solaris"? I read the book some 30+ years ago and loved it, though I'm sure it was a translation, I think it was originally written in Polish or Russian. Probably one of the most original "aliens" ever concieved. (As an aside, what is it with Clooney and 'oceans'? Solaris, Perfect Storm, O-10 & O-11) I did not see the film (My choices are always voted-down at home, the rest of the family has wildly different interests than I), but am curious as to whether it did the story justice. --- Michael Carnes <moogiebird@earthlink.net> wrote:
Hiya Patrick-- You might consider Gattica. No laser fights, faster-than-light-travel, demons or any of those other tired cliches of the genre. Instead, a thoroughly believable movie about a near future of genetic discrimination.

I'm working with the Utah Museum of Natural History to pick and then host a free screening of a science fiction movie in the fall of this year. I've got a few ideas but, as with the last couple of times I did a movie night, I'd like to get your input on what movie should be screened.
Ideas?
Patrick
