The moon would have made a great pic! ------------------------------ On Wed, Oct 31, 2012 9:36 PM MDT Patrick Wiggins wrote:
I flew down to Richfield this evening (my way of hiding from trick or treaters) and on the way back had a "spooky" experience. As I was climbing out of Richfield I could see a glow in the east signaling the immanent appearance of the Moon. Weird thing was the glow was bright orange. As I climbed so did the terrain to the east so it took a while for the Moon to show and when it did it too was orange. And to add to the show, a dark band of clouds crossed the top of the Moon at an angle making it look like the Man in the Moon was wearing a bandana. What a hoot. A nearly full, bandana wearing, bright orange Moon on Halloween night. It wasn't long before the terrain caught up and the Moon again set for a bit. All the way back to SLC it would alternately hide behind one peak or another before popping out again again for a series of brief appearances. Then as I started my descent into SLC the terrain again gained ground and the Moon pretty much disappeared until I was down and taxiing back to my hanger. But, alas, by then it had lost it's orange hue and was back to its normal whitish self. Fun flight.
