Being the oldest of 5, my parents pretty much let me do what I wanted once I hit 8 or 9, since they were too beat from dealing with the younger, squalling brats. In summer I stayed up late. It's one of the reasons I got into astronomy. I could go out back with my telescope and look at the stars, planets, the moon. If it was cloudy, I'd watch Johnny Carson on TV.
