As was mentioned before, many (but not all) of the humans stayed because they chose to do so. The animals stayed because they had no choice. But the thing that I've yet to see explained is why so many are so surprised when a city, built next to and below the level of the gulf, gets flooded. Kind of like building a house next to an airport and then being surprised by the noise. Patrick
