After yesterday morning's spectacular moon-Venus pairing, I was looking for the crescent today on my way to work. No moon! Along my commute north on I-215, I finally saw it in the gap in the mountains formed by Emigration canyon. A very thin, dim crescent moon, extremely low. By the time I got to work in south Davis county, it was behind the mountains once again, and didn't rise above the skyline until just a few minutes ago as this is written. This is one of the top 5 oldest moons I've seen, a very slender crescent. I'm sure it won't be visible at all as the sky brightens. But it was very beautiful in the morning twilight, almost mystical.
