BTW, I've been going out several times tonight looking for any sign of an aurora. Skies are good enough for me to see the Milky Way. But no sign of any auroral activity.

This weekend even though it's a "full moon" weekend on the SLAS calendar, the moon will not rise until 10pm on Friday night and the sunsets at 7:40. So there is a good dark window in the early evening to catch a glimpse of the comet.
