Hi Kim, My question is whether the moon will be entirely within the sun's diameter as seen from Bryce, regardless of whether it's off-center. Anyone figure that out? It's "only" an annular eclipse, so unless you absolutely need that perfect, spot-on centered shadow of the Moon against the backdrop of the sun's limb for a photo or because of a misguided sense of symmetry, which you have to use a filter to enjoy anyway, why not come to where the action is? Events in the Park will be a blast that week. And after the eclipse there will still be ranger programs and observing near the visitor center to wrap up the astronomy festival. I'm committed to help in the Park on eclipse day, but some possibilities for great photos exist just west of the Park with the eclipsed sun above the hoodoos. I'm not certain, but I also think that weather prospects are better here. It can be cold afterwards at night, but we're all used to that, anyway. Those going to Kanarraville or elsewhere have my sympathy. We probably would drive in from Orange County and hook up w/ you all. But like everything, it is dependent upon schedules, funds and priorities.
