Personally I am loving the irony of someone using Yahoo mail expressing concern over the dangers of spreading a virus. I think we have covered this subject adequately at this point. I think we can all agree: 1. SLAS is definitely behind the outbreak of West Nile 2. Now is the time to panic 3. The mosquitoes should tried and hung (or possibly executed by firing squad) 4. Everyone should wear long sleeves and full netting at all times 5. The mosquitoes have infiltrated the Health Department 6. Microbiology is the most fascinating part of astronomy On Wed, Aug 22, 2018 at 12:52 PM Joan Carman <jcarman6@q.com> wrote:
I wish I had a like or love button for Eric's response :)
Before you start in on me again Joe, I'm not making light of the heath risk. Rodger did the right thing, he asked for advise from the health department and got it. Measles is also a health risk, as are other diseases that can be potentially life threatening. No one is rolling up the streets in fear. Precautions yes, and MAYBE in the future, if the risk grows, then stronger measures.

I don't really have a dog in this race, but it seems to me that the first thing the SLAS board should do is contact the Health Department, and ask what they advise.

I have to agree with Joe that public safety is our priority. However, I wonder if we couldn’t post a sign saying “West Nile Virus detected-please use repellent,” at the entrance to SPOC? Also, is it possible to have the grounds keeper use a spray a couple hours ahead before the public begins arriving? Just a thought.
