Astromeccanica is a small company in Italy, comprised of professional engineers/machinists that are also amateur astronomers. They convert a variety of off-the-shelf telescopes into beautiful binoscopes, as well as manufacture mounts and piers. All custom components are CNC machined aluminum. The rear optical group uses three mirrors rather than prisms, and provides a right-side-up but reversed left-right image. 1.25" helical focusers are at 90 degrees for comfortable extended viewing of the night sky. Unlike typical giant binoculars, Astromeccanica binoscopes are designed for high magnification- up to 200x. This is possible due to the use of two small collimation knobs conveniently located under the diagonals. This provides the horizontal and vertical collimation adjustment necessary to compensate for microscopic shift when eyepieces are rotated to focus, or when changes in IPD are made. So collimation can always be perfectly maintained using this unique feature. Astromeccanica binoscopes comes in a variety of configurations, from 80mm to 150mm, using achromatic, apochromatic, or catadriotic designs.
