We had damage to our harbors and Oahu got a good slam too. With past major damage and deaths here in Hawaii tsunamis are taken VERY seriously, the 1946 quake that wiped out Hilo also has a very sad moment. A school at Lapauhoehoe lost most of their students AND teachers when they saw the water recede and went to collect fish. The memorial to this day is covered w/ leis and flowers and that gave notice to Hawaii that tsunamis here are to be taken serious. I did think it odd to see tourist cars parked at 4000 to 7000 ft at night on the way down from the summit. We take it serious here and go a few 100 feet up. If a wave were to strike at 4000 ft it wouldn't be only Hawaii that has to worry, though Utah would be fine ;^)
Aloha Rob
