Comet mosaics: In case anyone cares, I realized all of my Comet Holmes mosaics were flipped. I've corrected and reposted them (north is up). http://gallery.utahastronomy.com/v/patrickw M-31/32/110 Mosaic: It looks like the 300 panel mosaic I spent 2.25 hours shooting of the Andromeda galaxy the other morning did not use long enough exposures. Groan... So it's back to square one for that project. "Incoming" update: A couple of days ago I forwarded a post from the Minor Planet Mailing List highlighting the buzz there about the newly discovered asteroid that was heading our way and would soon be making a record close flyby of Earth. Well, it turns out the asteroid tracking folks were not talking to the spacecraft tracking folks. Seems at the same time MPMLers were excited about the incoming asteroid, the satellite folks were excited about an incoming European spacecraft called Rosetta that's due to make a close pass by Earth en route to a comet. Turns out the asteroid (which had even been given an official minor planet designation by the MPC) was actually the spacecraft. LOL! patrick
