This was the last flight of Discovery. This flight put the 1st robot in space, we will see Terminators any day now.
Two more launches of the Shuttle:
Endeavor launches STS134 for April 19th
STS 135 in Atlantis launches June 28th
Of course if everything goes as plan.

I would love to catch the launch of Endeavor but it won't happen this year.

Thanks, for some reason I thought this week's was the last. I just might think about trying to catch the next one. In looking at NASA's site though it appears there's yet another one scheduled in June.

I was sitting in the airport in Orlando waiting to fly out and noticed on the news that the shuttle was scheduled to launch that day -- less than 10 minutes after our takeoff. When I got on the plane I informed the pilot about it and asked if it were possible to change our flight path to better be able to see it, but he said that would not be possible. We left right on time and were barely into the air when over the intercom he announced that he had received clearance to change our course to be able to see the shuttle launch. A few seconds later we made a hard turn. We got into position for a decent albeit distant view just in the nick of time.
My biggest regret was not having kept myself better informed; I could easily have flown home later in the day or the next day and gone to see it in person. Although I went to Orlando a lot, I never made it there during a shuttle launch again.
Craig

Not sure if everyone has seen this video:

It's the launch of Discovery this week as viewed from a passenger jet flying in the area. Rather an interesting view. -- Jay Eads _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php Visit the Wiki: http://www.utahastronomy.com
