A friend of mine suggested a snowmobile suit for insulation. Actually, I like Joe's idea of going down to Tucson, AZ for winter observing. We are thinking of going down there next month if the weather cooperates.
Here's how I do winter observing: 1) Walk through door that connects warm library in my house to my observatory. 2) Close door to keep the warmth in the house. 3) Quickly open the observatory roof. 4) Remove the scope's dust cover. 5) Install the camera on the scope. 6) Power on the telescope's mount and the camera. 7) Pass through the aforementioned door back into the warm library. 8) Make a cup of hot tea and put on slippers and robe. 9) Sit down at desk in warm library 10) Run the scope and observe sky pictures on the computer monitors. But seriously, I really don't know how those that actually observe outdoors in winter do it. I'm impressed. Patrick
