You have to be careful about long term storage under a tarp outside since moisture can build under the tarp and cause damage to the equipment. I have noticed this happening in just a few days when I have stored my scope outside. -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Troy Davidson Sent: Monday, June 01, 2009 4:58 PM To: Utah Astronomy Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Dobsonian Cover? I'm looking for a good solution to keep my dobsonian safe out in the elements. I am wanting to leave my dobsonian out on the deck at my house. When the scope is not in use, it will be about 6' under the eves. The area where I want to set it will be safe from rain except when the rain comes in sideways. I am thinking that a large tarp that is tied down will be ok, but I want to hear what others have to say. Thanks. ++++++++++++++++++ Troy Davidson _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php Visit the Wiki: http://www.utahastronomy.com
