Sun party activity for the kids: Requires only a sundial and notebook. Every five minutes, note the time as seen on a sun dial. Place the sun dial at the opposite end of the observing field as the adults. Make sure the kids have several hours' worth of data collected before they come back. Cloudy weather alternate plan: Estimate the sun dial readings. Incentive: The first kid to note three hours worth of data gets 1000 texts added to his cell phone text plan. ;o) On 8/20/10, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:
I'm going to try and make the sun party, if life doesn't get in the way. Thanks for the reminder, Patrick!
(Is 9 AM too early for margaritas? I thought not...)

If you're looking for something to do Saturday remember SLAS is doing a Sun party in SLC Saturday morning at Winchester Park and a special star party Saturday evening at SPOC to thank the residents of Stansbury Park for their support (note that the latter event will include fireworks).

p.s. I should clarify that the star party/fireworks display is not being advertised to the public. _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php Visit the Wiki: http://www.utahastronomy.com
