I hope he's not allergic to alfalfa. I wondered about gas. My truck has a pretty big tank but I'm planning on bringing a little extra. On Sun, Aug 20, 2017 at 1:36 PM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:
Another thing to note: I have had reports that some towns are already out of fuel. We are taking a sub-compact car and five extra gallons of gas, which gives us sufficient fuel for the full round-trip, plus a 90 mile reserve. We don't plan on needing fuel while in Idaho.

We are leaving between midnight and 1 AM, headed for the Thornton, ID area. Will arrive before dawn. If we can't find a good spot near Thornton (very close to centerline), we could end up anywhere between Rigby and Rexburg. Mike Clements is already camped-out in an alfalfa field near Rigby.
We are leaving immediately after totality, in an attempt to beat the southbound traffic home. Wife has to work early Tuesday morning.
I would expect a fair amount of northbound traffic starting around sunup. Glad it's on a weekday, would have been much worse on a weekend.

Well, right now there is no traffic at all between here and Idaho according to Google. I was going to leave about 2 am but now I'm wondering. I guess it's anybody's guess but when do you think traffic will pick up?
I didn't make camping reservations, but maybe I can just hang out in a parking lot somewhere. I can't get into my observing location until 6 am.
If we were in Europe we would probably all be taking buses and trains and there wouldn't be a traffic nightmare. _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy
