Tonight's pass was amazing! Long and bright. I had not anticipated being home tonight from work but when it was offered I took it. While checking Heaven's above I realized that the pass was occuring at that very moment! I ran outside and caught it from the zenith to its disapearance very close to the south east horizon (ok the neighbors roof) It out shone nearby Jupiter for awhile and I counted 3 flashes. Well I was outside so I pulled out the scope and invited over some 11yr old scouts and their dads that were having a campout in a yard down the street (a few of them have horse property, this being west jordan and all) we viewed Venus, Saturn-big WOW's on that one! Jupiter, the Moon, M-57, M-13 and Albireo. Lot's of questions especially from the dad's but a fun night for all I think, and a great night for some casual viewing. Shuttle's on the ground now but we've a "directly-over-SLC" pass of ISS tonight during the star party.
