I just got word from the Minor Planet Center that an asteroid I've been chasing through the sky the past couple of nights is indeed a new one and has been given the temporary designation K07V08N. It'll probably be a couple of years before I'll be able to submit a name but it's just nice to know that even an amateur can still discover a new asteroid. BTW, regarding the name, 8 years ago I worked a deal with KCPW during one of their pledge drives to give the naming rights to my next find to the highest bidder. Some guy actually bid and then paid $500! Now I just hope I can find him... Clear skies! patrick _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://gallery.utahastronomy.com Visit the Wiki: http://www.utahastronomy.com
