I also was able to get a good view of the planets last night from the backyard of my home in West Jordan, I also noticed Mercury around 8:45pm, if you haven't seen this line up yet I'd suggest doing so as soon as you can, it's quite a sight! On another note, I recently returned from a 2 week stay in South Korea and I was fortunate enough to get a very nice view of Comet Ikeya-Zhang from 41,000 ft on the flight over on the 9th of April. The comet was suspended just above the horizon, it looked like the coma was hanging from Cassiopea by its tail!! A very nice sight! Clear Skies Howard --- Joe Borgione <jborgion@xmission.com> wrote:
The storm gods have granted us some nice skies tonight (4-21) along the Wasatch Front; I just got back in after an impromptu star err, I mean planet party at Churchill Jr High at Wasatch Blvd and about 3700 south. We had a good look at all 5 planets; Mercury came into view at about 8:45 or so and was visible to about 9:25.
If it's clear on Monday (4-22), I'm going to be there again; I'll bring my telescope this time. A number of people were there and were interested in looking through more than binoculars. If anybody wants to join me, I'm setting up about 8:30-8:45.
