Does anyone know if it was filmed, and if it will be broadcast and/or available for streaming? /R ________________________________ From: Ann House <ann@annhouse.org> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, March 27, 2014 6:03 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Neil deGrasse Tyson Tanner Lecture I thought he did an exceptional job in bridging humanities and science (the event was hosted by the Tanner Humanities Lecture Series). Not an easy thing to do, especially when people can be so touchy about religion, culture, history, science, society, and Pluto. He told the story of his favorite vest: the one he wears often, dark blue with suns. He bought it at the Hansen Planetarium years ago. He noticed an employee wearing it and he wanted it. The employee took it off and sold it to him. Do any of you old-timers remember that? He stated that he notices that TV shows are never listed in Mountain Time, only Eastern, Central, and Pacific time. He said we all must be great in math. He said that the US is lagging behind in science and we can't afford to. With humor he showed elevator buttons and said we still are afraid of the number 13! Funny, but scary as we realize that 1 in 8 deaths occur due to polluted air. The world is facing issues that science can solve. He spoke for 3 solid hours. Entertaining and educational. -A On Thu, Mar 27, 2014 at 5:23 PM, Larry Holmes <larry@kijoda.com> wrote:

Did anyone else on the list attend or watch Dr. Tyson's fantastic lecture yesterday evening?
Joan, Ann, and myself were in the Gould auditorium. Enjoyed it very much. 73 (or Ed, should I say toot toot?)
