It does sound more practical than the Constellation Program. It still seems to me that if not for the American taxpayer manned space travel would have been finished a long time ago. The thing that was questionable to me was plans for a moon base before they figure how to extract water from moon soil.
I do support realistic manned space travel, we still have a lot of research to do in regards to man surviving long space flights. The ISS has yet to be fully utilized. I have heard many voice the opinion that ISS and the Shuttle was simply a jobs program. Hi Joe,
I hope this is correct and perhaps we will know on July 8th. But, I'll believe it when I see it - there doesn't really seem to be much support for manned spaceflight in the executive branch. Perhaps even more surprising to me is that there doesn't appear to be a lot of support for manned spaceflight in the amateur astronomy community.
