This from Patrick's "News": Night Sky Magazine to Cease Publication Sky Publishing has decided to stop producing Night Sky, its bimonthly magazine for beginning amateur astronomers http://skytonight.com/news/4884391.html I'm not surprised. This was an unnecessary magazine in the first place, and I thought it strange that S&T would essentially compete against itself. S&T has drifed-away from the professional "feel" it once had some 30 years ago, and is now very much a magazine for the masses- it resembles Astronomy magazine more than the semi-professional journal that it once was, in a successful attempt to boost circulation. I remember that Astronomy was originally marketed as "The Most Beautiful Astronomy Magazine". It was aimed squarely at the novice & intermediate amateur, S&T leaned toward the advanced amateur and professional. These days there is much less difference between the two. There is plenty of editorial content geared toward the novice in S&T already and that made Night Sky redundant. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Cheap talk?
