The Dead Horse Point Star Party was a success. We had several hours of clear skies each night, which was nice since the forcast called for mostly cloudy. The first night it got a little hazy up high around midnight and on Saturday night we had a lite, very cold breeze. The breeze didn't seem to bother the viewing but it made use cold enough that we decided we had had enough fun. We had a great view of Comet Ikeya-Zhang. The comet and tail where both visible hanging out in Pisces. The comet was near and only slightly less bright than eta Pisces. I was able to view Saturn, Jupiter, and a bunch of Messier objects. I didn't really try for the marathon. I didn't get M74 or M77. To get M77 I would have needed to move the telescope and I was enjoying the comet too much. I did get 34, 76, and 33 that I haven't seen on previous marathons. I also spent quite a while viewing galaxies in Virgo and Leo. I spent some time looking at the Horsehead nebula (I couldn't see the Horsehead) and many other nebulas in Orion. The sky at Dead Horse Point was real dark. We are planning to go down again next year for a spring star party. I think we will do it about a month later and maybe the weather will be a little warmer and more predictable. Dave
