Deb, I learned how to process by asking questions... mostly on Astromart, by reading everything I could find, and by experimenting. I was already pretty good with Photoshop when I started astrophotography, so that part was easy. Good processing is essential, and it is difficult to learn. I have found several good websites with useful processing info. I will send an email later that lists a few of these sites. Right now I am off to dinner with my wife.... it's her birthday!! When I go out to LaVerkin or darker site, I can find the third star 51 Cepheus and get a three star alignment. I'm going to try to improve on this with my JMI-Max computer with the Polar Align function as soon as my DSC encoders arrive. By the way, where did you learn to process your images? I'm still a little bit in the dark regarding image processing. I was thinking of purchasing "The New Astronomy" to shed some light on this subject. Debbie

Debbie, Thanks! I really like this image.
The Losmandy polar scope has very good optics and it is usually quite easy to polar align. I had an earlier version of the polar scope and it was terrible!!! I could never see the second alignment star through the
scope,
thus my alignment was always off. This one is pretty easy to use, even when the light pollution is pretty bad.
I am climbing the learning curve as fast as I can..... as an obsessive/compulsive imager. :)
Cheers, Tyler

Tyler,
A great image! Focus and tracking look great. Do you find it harder to polar align the mount in light polluted conditions? I certainly do. You seem to have climbed the learning curve relatively fast.

Hi all,
I just added an image of the Veil Nebula to my gallery. I am quite
happy
with the image considering that it was taken from my back yard in light-pollutes Orem, Utah. I had some gradients to deal with, but managed to get a decent image.
