Kurt, Have you had trouble with smaller scopes on the EQ6. My personal opinion is that a 10" Newt is way too much scope for that mount. I suspect you are getting flexure in the mount. I would not use more than 2/3 the capacity of any mass market mount. What is the focal length of the Newt. The longer the focal length the more the mount capacity should be. I have a Losmandy G-11 and my 10" f/6 Newt is too much for that mount and it claims an instrument capacity of 60 lbs., 20 lbs more than the EQ6. The G-11 works fine for SCT's up to about 35 lbs but doesn't handle my C-14 (49 lbs.) nearly as well as the Celestron CGE mount does. The CGE mount has a built in cone error correction and in my opinion is the best go-to mount for under $3500. With the CGE you do a two star alignment and then put in 3-5 calibration stars to adjust for cone error. Even if your polar alignment is off a degree or so you still get remarkable pointing accuracy. The object is usually in the field of view at 200X.
