I was thinking about posting along simular lines but was waiting for the end of the year in case I had a good look at the Geminids, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen this year at least. My best unaided view of the year was of IC1848 and IC1805 which are just north of the Perseus double cluster. I had seen them before with binoculars but on an exceptionally clear night in August. Also visable was the nebulosity around the two stars vdb14 and vdb15. Best view through binoculars was when a bright Perseid passed through the field when I was looking at M81 and M82. Best view of a comet this year was through a 17.5 inch telescope off 22P/Kopff: with round coma, with dim stellar nucleus, distinct averted vision tail due west, streaks in the tail. DT
