We have a star party scheduled for Feb new moon of next year. OAS is coming down. My friend Dave just got a 20" f/5 dobsonian reflector last month. He is aching to get it out but probably be next month. Things were beginning to frost up, but also Dave's IPOD was dewing up. Had to air the scope out in my living room before putting it away. I wasn't impressed with the transparency that night so I just set up at home. I would like to head out to the Anasazi Trailhead west of Ivins soon! Dave also has a propane heater which is nice. That's not bad, 40, though your experience gives new meaning to the phrase CYA .... Any frost? Maybe a gang of us northerners should plan an expedition south in January. Best wishes, Joe

I don't know why that happens but it seems to be the coldest part of my body.

The SEB was very clear at 128X. We didn't stay up for Io's shadow because the seeing was going south. Also, got good splits on Theta Aurigae, Rigel, Castor, Gamma Delphini, Delta and Iota Orionis, and of course the Trapezium in the Orion Nebula. It took me a little longer to find things since I didn't have a red-dot finder yet. I can't wait for a night of good seeing. Hopefully by the weekend I can take another look.
